Brahim Alaoui

Art historian and  curator. First researcher at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, he was then director of the Arab World Institute in Paris, where he organized the last twenty years many exhibitions that have contributed to its fame. He is the author of numerous books and catalogues, including the Arab contemporary artists. Both in his writings and the exhibitions he organized, Brahim Alaoui remains one of the rare mediator establishing a living link between contemporary art from the Arab world and the European and international art scene. Member of various boards including those of the Venice Biennale in 1999 (Unesco Prize) and the Shanghai Biennale in 2001 (Unesco Prize), he is also a member of the Advisory Commission for artworks to UNESCO and member of ICOM (international Council of Museums) and member of AICA-France (international Association of Art Critics).
He now divides his professional life between consulting in museums, editing, writing and curating.
